Services at Colwall and Coddington

The main services in Colwall are in the parish church of St James, but smaller services are held in St Crispin's Chapel, next to the Village Hall, and during weekdays in the main hall at Chevenham and at the Good Shepherd in Upper Colwall. All the Coddington services are in the church. You can find the actual services which are taking place this month by clicking the "Services" button.

The pattern of services on Sundays is as follows:

 Sunday
8:30 BCP Communion
 10:15 at St James
 11:15 at All Saints
 6:30 Evening prayer
1st  St James  Parish communion  Matins  St Crispins
2nd  All Saints  Parish communion  No service  St Crispins
3rd  St James  Parish Praise  Matins  St Crispins
4th  St James  Parish communion  No service  St Crispins
5th  All Saints  Children's service  No service  St Crispins

The early 8:30 service is a communion service following the Book of Common Prayer.

The main 10:15 service at St James is a choral communion service following the new Common Worship book. We provide a service booklet, so that it is easy to follow. Our junior church, the Seekers, are in church at the beginning of the service, leave for their own activities after the first hymn and then rejoin us at the end for a blessing during the communion. So we are used to children and if you would like to bring yours along, please do. If they are very young, there is a creche for when they get bored.

Parish Praise is a service led by lay people, designed for those who like a more informal style of worship.

For devotees of the prayer book, Matins at Coddington is just for you. Trollope would be at home here! Seriously, here is where you can appreciate the beauty of the book of Common Prayer in a quiet rural setting.

Evening prayer in St Crispins often follows the prayer book, but we sometimes use other forms, such as that in Celebrating Common Prayer. It is a said service, providing a peaceful time to end a busy Sunday.

During the week, you can go to church too. On Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm, there is a communion service at St Crispins while on Wednesdays there is a midday service at 12:15pm at the Good Shepherd and on Thursdays a communion service at 10:15am in Chevenham.
